T'S HARVEST TIME AGAIN!
We are already picking apples. We had an early spring and combined with the heat this summer we are ahead about 2 weeks over other years. We'll be starting our fresh apple cider pressing at the end of the first week in September - once we have enough ripe varieties for blending. We've been busy making homemade jam, jellies and relishes to offer to you in our store. We will be carrying cheese from Empire Cheese in Campbellford, honey from Twin Sisters Hive & Honey Products from Stirling again. We will be offering fudge from The Fudgery Shoppe in St. Jacobs (made the old fashioned way in copper kettles and turned out onto marble). Along with the growing of apples (35 varieties now), we grow pears, pumpkins, squash and gourds. If you recall we told you last year we planted a few cherries and peaches on the farm. The birds must have loved the cherries because they got all but three (which were great). The peaches were wonderful too- so juicy. Hopefully we’ll be able to offer them in the store next year. We look forward to seeing you soon!
